Unity in the Community is about coming together as one - building real connections, creating meaningful bonds, and finding a sense of belonging. It’s family. It’s friendship. It’s pride in who you are and pride in the people around you. At Merit Park, unity means growing stronger together.
Our “Neighborhood Pride” design represents the side streets near Merit Park, and inside Detroit. The streets are in the shape of the Detroit symbol, showing that the people make up Detroit.
Our “Detroit Together, Detroit Forever” design shows Merit Park as one united family—standing together, looking out for each other, and celebrating our shared love, freedom, and community.
Our “Stronger Together” design represents bonds (creating and sustaining them), bringing everyone together. Instead of just Detroit, we visualized the entire globe, showing the unity everyone has with everyone. As one unit, we can maintain the peace and keep our home healthy and happy. The star represents the core of that unity, Merit Park.
What have you learned from this project?
I have learned to always show engagement when my team is discussing any improvements. I have also learned to always showcase the ideas that I've brainstormed within each activity.

What this collection means to me, is that it shows Unity in the community is what empowers and encourages us all

What do you want your customers to know about you as individuals?
What I want customers to know about our team name is that “ Dreams of fire” means our passion for turning ideas into reality.

How did you come up with the team name? What does it mean to you?
Unity in the community means bringing people together from diverse backgrounds, fostering a shared purpose, and collaborating for the common good despite differences. To me it means giving people a second chance and letting everyone be themselves. Nobody is perfect and you should not be judged based on that. I have learned to always show engagement!
